Treating Complex Liver Disorders with TCM

Jake Paul Fratkin, OMD L.Ac.

Sunday, November, 6, 2011
Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Denver, CO

Liver imbalances are central to most chronic conditions involving fatigue, poor digestion and menstrual disorders. By focusing on the twelve liver patterns, we will offer effective treatments using Chinese herbal medicine. In this course you will learn about these chronic conditions as well as Irritable Bowel Syndrome, esophageal reflux, depression, and support during chemotherapy.

Through a review of classical prescriptions, modern Chinese hospital formulas, and recommendations of some master herbalists, you will gain confidence in treating liver imbalances and disorders with Chinese herbal products, customized formulas, and specialized applications of individual herbal ingredients.

This course is for practitioners with a strong background in Chinese materia medica and formulas. Emphasis will be on practical clinical application and management.

Jake Paul Fratkin OMD L.Ac.

Dr. Fratkin has taught Chinese herbal medicine, Japanese acupuncture, and medical qigong for 25 years. He authored Chinese Herbal Patent Medicines: the Clinical Desk Reference and edited Wu and Fischer’s Practical Therapeutics of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Jake was named Acupuncturist of the Year in 1999 by the American Association of Oriental Medicine (AAOM) and teacher of the year in 2006 by the American Association of Teachers of Oriental Medicine (AATOM).

“Whenever Jake teaches, I know I will learn something clinically useful.”

Maria Delores Diaz, DOM, Santa Fe, NM.
Organizer of the Honduras Acupuncture Relief Project

Reviews from “Essential Chinese Herbal Products”:

“Jake’s classes are great for both the novice and the more seasoned practitioner of Oriental medicine. He gives in depth explanations for various herbal combinations in selected patent medicines (Chinese and American). More importantly, he shares his knowledge and experience in using both traditional patent medicines and in using the newer Chinese hospital-based formulas. I’m glad that I didn’t miss taking his class. It was excellent.”

Anna Tsang, M.S., L.Ac.
Academic Dean, Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine

“This was by far the most clinically useful post-graduate course I have taken. My diagnosing, treatment, and clinical herbal skills have improved significantly from the material I learned in this class.”
Dianna Hermann, L.Ac. Ft. Collins, CO
